Nine Old Men Remembered

They weren't old -- at least, not when they got the name. But there were nine of them, and they were Walt Disney's right-hand men. With the passing of Ollie Johnston on April 14, the Nine Old Men, the legendary animators who created many of Disney's more unforgettable moments are all gone now. But they are far from forgotten, and the Insider wanted to pay tribute to these groundbreaking artists.

The Nine Old Men moniker was born in a joke by Walt, referring to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's nickname for the nine justices of the Supreme Court. At the time, the artists were pretty young -- in their 30s and 40s -- but the name stuck. The Nine Old Men, in concert with Walt's big dreams, may be said to have created the modern art of animation -- and rare is the film studio that could boast such an incredible aggregation of talent, with so little ego.

Recently I enter a character design contest at www.strutyourreel.com and low and behold I won. So the next step in the process is that Anzovin Studios will now make the design into a free rig for everyone to use. So now I'm in the process of helping out with turnarounds and more model sheets so we can make the best free rig out there.

Well went back to life drawing last night and all i can say is aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Three weeks and you kind of lose it for a little bit. So hopefully next weeks will be better. Still working on the character below trying make a better model sheet. So stay tooned.

Here's the final commercial PROSTY that we just finished at work with these characters. It took us 8 days to finish. There were only three of us, I animated for the hole eight days and then one other guy came in for the last four to help out. The other guy took all the blue line and used a tablet to bring them into flash. He also did all the BGs
